Question 3

Are your products safe for kids and pets?

Accepted Answer

Yes — once treatments have dried (typically 1–2 hours), your lawn is safe for kids and pets. We'll always let you know when it's safe to re-enter.

Question 4

When should I start weed control in Rochester, MN?

Accepted Answer

In Rochester, pre-emergent weed control should be applied in early spring — typically late April to early May — before soil temperatures reach 55°F and crabgrass begins to germinate. Post-emergent treatments can be applied throughout the growing season.

Question 5

How many fertilization treatments does my lawn need?

Accepted Answer

Most Rochester lawns benefit from 4–5 fertilization applications per year: early spring, late spring, summer, early fall, and a winterizer application in late fall. Our programs are tailored to your lawn's specific needs.

Question 6

Why does my lawn still have weeds after treatment?

Accepted Answer

Some weeds take 2–3 weeks to fully die after treatment. If weeds persist beyond that, we'll come back and re-treat at no extra charge — that's our guarantee.

Question 7

When is the best time to aerate in Minnesota?

Accepted Answer

Fall (late August through October) is the ideal time to aerate cool-season lawns in Minnesota. The cooler temperatures and fall rains help grass recover quickly and the open soil channels allow seed to make excellent contact with the ground.

Question 8

Should I overseed after aeration?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely — aeration and overseeding is one of the most effective combinations in lawn care. The holes created by aeration give new seed direct soil contact, dramatically improving germination rates and thickening your turf.

Question 9

How long until I see results from overseeding?

Accepted Answer

New grass seed typically germinates in 7–21 days depending on the variety and conditions. You'll see noticeable thickening within 4–6 weeks. Avoid mowing new seedlings until they reach 3–4 inches tall.

Question 10

How often should my lawn be mowed?

Accepted Answer

During the active growing season (May–September in Rochester), most lawns should be mowed weekly. We never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing, which keeps your lawn healthier and more stress-resistant.

Question 11

What height should I mow my grass?

Accepted Answer

For the cool-season grasses common in Rochester (Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, ryegrass), we recommend mowing at 3–4 inches. Taller grass shades the soil, retains moisture, and crowds out weeds naturally.

Question 12

Do you mow in the rain?

Accepted Answer

We avoid mowing wet grass when possible, as it can tear grass blades and leave clumps. If rain is in the forecast, we'll adjust your schedule and communicate any changes promptly.
